This heavily textured piece by environmental artist Nicole Weber shaped in the form of a body cast has been made using a combination of plaster, egg shells, chicken wire, fabric, and three embodied female experiences. The texture of the piece is complex, with various layers and densities woven throughout.
The silhouette is also very intriguing. The fusion of the harsh albeit thin chicken wire, the stippled plaster and warm coloured velvet fabric is astonishing and draws the viewer towards the piece. What sets this sculpture apart is that it is wearable and can function as some sort of armoire, an innovative, environmentally-friendly use of materials. Weber often upcycles materials like denim, rope and chicken wire in her work.
